Indian Men’s Hockey team put up brave show in semi-finals of the Olympics match, even though India lost the match by 2-5, Indian team played at their best for the first three quarters, Belgium team was well supported by Biased referees which supported them by providing penalties corners even though some look like fouls, but still Belgium were rewarded by penalty corners. Belgium scored first goal of the match in the first quarter itself, soon India’s Harmanpreet Singh scored the equalizer through penalty corner. Mandeep Singh scored the second goal for India which gave India the lead. Alexander Hendrickx scored the equalizer goal for Belgium. Match was evenly poised at 2-2 till half time. After the half time Belgium scored the third goal for the match and took the lead over India. Alexander Hendrickx scored hat-trick in the match and won the match for Belgium. Indian team defense was shaken after Belgium team got many penalty corners in last quarter which had lot of pressure on Indian defense. Manpreet Singh got yellow card as well in the last quarter which shifted the momentum towards Belgium as Indian team was one player short. Indian team hopes to win Gold in Olympics hockey after 41 years were dashed after the loss. Indian team should be proud of their performance. India team would now play for Bronze medal.
