Is English test team heading towards revamp?

English Test Team

English test team performance has not been good in the past 7-8 month’s starting from the Indian series in English summer. In the ongoing Ashes series against Australia, English batting has been exposed badly. English openers have not been able to give starts putting pressure on the middle order.

Joe Root and Dawid Malan are the only two English batsman scoring runs. Ben Stokes and Jos Butler have not been consistent in scoring runs in the ongoing Ashes Series. English bowlers have also not been in best of the forms. James Anderson and Stuart Broad have not been able to perform well outside England as they would have liked. Mark Wood has been impressive with his speedy spells and Ollie Robinson has been consistent with his line and length. It won’t be surprise if we see new faces in next test series of England. England white ball team is pretty settled, but test team definitely need new faces to take the team forward. James Anderson could retire by the next English home series going by his current form. England selectors would have tough task in dropping senior players and building new test team with new set of players.

There are news reports in English media which has not been yet confirmed, Ben Stokes could replace Joe Root as the test captain of England after the Ashes. English test team definitely needs middle order revamp and new fast bowling resources to get back to winning ways.

England test team also need quality spinner which has been one of their weak links ever since the retirement of Graeme Swann. Hope English cricket fans would also get to witness their team back to winning ways soon.
