New Zealand were crowned the world test championship winners, they beat India by 8 wickets in the final. Match was heading towards draw as first four days were affected by rain, ICC had announced sixth day as reserve day for this match, on final 2 days that is on Fifth and Sixth day of the test match, and match was being played without much of rain interruption. Indian batting collapsed on the final day of the test match, as they were bowled out for 170 in the second innings, New Zealand needed 139 runs to win the World Test Championship, which they chased quite comfortably. Ross Taylors scored winning runs for New Zealand, Ross Taylor was not out on 47 and Kane Williamson was not out on 52. Kyle Jamieson was named the man of the match for picking 7 wickets including 5 wickets haul in the first innings. Indian Bowlers and batsman struggled to perform; they did not adapt well to the conditions. Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane form has become cause of concern, both failed to save the test match on the final day of the test match. Indian team management needs to address the batting problems before test series against England. KL Rahul and Hanuma Vihari might get a chance in the England Series. Mohammed Siraj might get the chance as well. A chance of Shradul Thakur playing also seems high, because of his batting ability. Still lots of days are left for England series; nothing can be confirmed till the start of first test match on 4th August 2021.
