KL Rahul Played Blinder Knock Against Chennai Super Kings

KL Rahul at it's best

KL Rahul played blinder innings in final league match against Chennai Super Kings scoring 98 runs in 42 balls. Chennai were put into bat by Punjab and manage a score of 135 runs only. Arsheep Singh picked up two wickets in quick succession of Chennai innings. Chris Jordan playing first match of the season for Punjab took two wickets. Ravi Bishnoi and Mohammed Shami took one wicket each for Punjab.

Punjab team got off to a flying start, KL Rahul scored bulk of runs of Punjab innings, KL Rahul scored 8 sixes and 7 fours in his knock of 98 runs, he was not out till the end. Punjab won the match inside first 14 overs which improved their net run rate.

Punjab hopes for semifinals spot in the Indian Premier League would depend on Mumbai and Kolkata matches as well, although win has given Punjab decent chance of qualifying for semifinals.

This season for Punjab has been mixed one, they could have easily reached semifinals have they not lost closes matches against Rajasthan and Bangalore. Arsheep Singh, Ravi Bishnoi and Harpreet Brar all of them had good seasons for Punjab. KL Rahul and Mohammed Shami have been performing well for Punjab team from past 3 seasons but team’s inconsistency has been the major reason of them not reaching semifinals even once in past three seasons. Punjab team needs to identify their core group going forward for mega auctions coming up in the end of this year. Punjab team lacks quality all-rounders in their team. Punjab team selection has also been pretty poor since KL Rahul even mentioned in one of his post-match conferences that they not been able to identify their best eleven.  Regular changes in the playing 11 have been another issue with Punjab Team.

KL Rahul has been the leading run scorer till now in this edition of Indian Premier League scoring 628 runs in 14 matches and is also the orange cap holder.

Hope in this mega auction of Indian Premier League, Punjab would be able to build a strong team having good quality batsman, strike bowlers and few bowling all-rounder’s which are must for T-20 cricket in these days.
