IPL 2022 season has been roll coaster journey for teams like Mumbai and Chennai. Both the best franchises are languishing in bottom of the points table.
New additions to IPL 2022, teams like Gujarat and Lucknow have performed really well. Both teams are in first and second spot in IPL 2022 points table.
What has worked for both the team is atmosphere in dressing room; both teams have strong backroom staff. Lucknow have Andy Flower as head coach, Gautam Gambhir as mentor, while Gujarat have Gary Kristen has batting coach, Ashish Nehra as head coach.
Both franchises have indian player’s as captains of their franchises. KL Rahul leading Lucknow and Hardik Pandya has Gujarat captain.
It is important tournament for players like Hardik Pandya who is looking for valuable match practice ahead of T-20 World Cup in Australia. Hardik Pandey has been impressive as captain for Gujarat Lions and has played some outstanding knocks with the bat in IPL 2022, what has been missing for Hardik Pandya has been his bowling, he is unable to bowl due to hamstring issues.
Rahul Tewatia, David Miller, Rashid Khan have bailed out team on several instances in this season. Bowling is one area where Gujarat feels bit weak at times, if Mohd Shami and Rashid Khan does not pick wickets, then Gujarat might have troubles in coming matches as well.
For Gujarat most impressive has been Wriddhiman Saha who is hitting the ball really well in beginning of the innings, he along with Shubman Gill have given starts to the team at impressive strick rate.
For Lucknow, players like KL Rahul, Quinton De Kock, Deepak Hooda, Mohsin Khan have been impressive.
Lucknow have been good with the bat and bowl, although their strong point has been their bowling, batting still feel fragile at times.
Mohsin Khan, Ayush Badoni have been really impressive this season for Lucknow and have contributed in most of the Lucknow wins this season.
It is great to see young Indian Talent making the mark in every season of IPL, this season is no different.
Much will depend on form of key players for both team’s in the playoff and their chances of winning IPL title will depend on it.
