India Capitals won the second edition of Legends Cricket League

A 15-days of exciting action, with the participation of the world’s greatest cricketers concluded yesterday. The final match of Legends League Cricket was played between Indian Capitals and Bhilwara Kings. India Capitals team clinched the title of champions of the Legends League Cricket at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday, October 5. The Capitals, captained by former Indian team cricketer Gautam Gambhir, made an excellent recovery after stumbling early to post 211/7 in 20 overs of the match. The Kings crumbled under pressure from the tall target and were all out for just 107 in 18.2 overs with more than an over left spare. Ross Taylor (82 runs off 41 balls) and Mitchell Johnson (62 runs off 35 balls) were the architects of the Capitals’ innings, sharing a 126-run stand for the fifth wicket, the Kings did not manage to get any impressive partnership from their batters in their inning.

Irfan Pathan won the toss for the Bhilwara Kings and chose to field first which led to the Capitals batting first. Bhilwara Kings started the game off on the front foot, picking up three India Capitals wickets in quick succession and Captain Gautam Gambhir was the first to fall, as he was dismissed by spinner Monty Panesar and then the series continued. In the second innings, Morne van Wyk was the first to fall amongst the Bhilwara Kings, when he was dismissed by the dangerous Mitchell Johnson, while William Potterfield was the next to depart the field as Pawan Suyal claimed his first wicket for the match. Suyal then doubled his wicket tally by picking Yusuf Pathan’s wicket in the sixth over of the match.

The winning team took home a hefty winning amount of 2 crores as stated by the organizers on Tuesday. The announcement was made during the press conference in Jaipur which was held on Tuesday with the grand finale being ahead on the next day and was attended by India Capitals’ captain Gautam Gambhir and Bhilwara King’s captain Irfan Pathan along with Raman Raheja, CEO and Co-Founder this Legends League Cricket held. The league has announced a total prize pool of 4 crore wherein runners-up are awarded with 1 crore while second runners-up, Gujarat Giants, received 50 lakh as per the announcement in the press conference.
